I would wonder and day-dream about what the world must have looked like before humans built houses, roads and cities. My lively imagination would carry me back to that time when our country was covered with magnificent forests filled with abundant wildlife, pristine rivers and prairies.

When I grew up I wanted to learn all I could about the subject and decided to create a series of narrative paintings depicting the Eastern American Wilderness as it once was. But I soon realized I could not tell the visual story of nature’s past without including the Native Americans. They were part of nature and nature was part of them and they thrived together for centuries. We can learn so much from them”
